Since this district is adjacent to the city of
Chennai, there are remarkable number of Educational Institutions in the

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan ("Education for
All")
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan which is other wise called "Education for all" is a
movement rather than a scheme to universalize elementary education by
community-ownership of the school system. This movement aims at improving human
capabilities of children through provision of community-owned quality education
in a mission mode. Objectives of Education for All (EFA)

child may be left out.

Enrolment in School
In Primary and Upper Primary schools 153913 Boys and 145453 Girls are
enrolled. Totally 299366 students are enrolled.
During the Academic year 2001-2002 and 2002-2003, 35 Primary Schools have
been newly opened and 23 schools upgraded into Middle schools.
Annual plan for the year 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 was prepared and got
approval for 1104.659 lakhs for Tiruvallur District. So far Rs.2,35,00,000 (Two
crores Thirty five lakhs only) is received from the state project Director for
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Activities.
